Help – How Can I Promote My Website?
No comments · Posted by Bob Cavanaugh in Search Engine Optimization
With billions of websites, how do I promote my website to help people find me? This is the question I hear most often from professionals and small business owners. It is a very important question. More than 85% of people looking for a business use internet search. Being found should be a top priority for every business.
The vast majority of people who say, “I need to know how to promote my website” think they already know how. Most of them actually do not know how to promote a site. And the question should actually be more specific. The correct question is: How do I promote my website in order to rank in the top ten results on the search engines?
More than 60 billion searches are performed online every month. Only 3% of those searches click beyond page one of the search results. Now that Google (at least) is including live social search results as well, ranking in the top ten for a keyword is essential.
How Do I Promote My Website to Rank on Page One?
You need a marketing plan that integrates all of the most effective promotional tactics. You might be able to write the plan, but you also might do better to hire a consultant. You can manage it yourself, hire a marketing firm to do everything for you, or work with experts who will provide what you need. You will also need to find a balance between what you can do and what you cannot afford the time to do. Your plan will need to bring together the right tactics and use them in just the right way to reach your market. The way I promote my website will be different from the way you promote your website, especially in details.
What are the Best Tactics to Promote My Website?
Here are the methods I use to promote my website and that I believe will serve you well in promoting yours.
- A professionally-built and designed website
- Research to identify the right keywords
- Search Engine Optimization of your site and everything else
- Buy some ppc ads on the search engines
- Use social media to create interest and to build links to your website
- Plan your blogging
- Links across pages of your site
- Develop content for your site regularly
- Market articles you write
- Media relations campaign and regular press releases
- Submit your site to appropriate online directories and search engines
- Optimal use of local search
- Use landing pages
- Develop a strategy for developing leads
- Invest in a lead management system of some kind
- Create lead bait – write or create free items that people will sign up to receive.
These are the primary methods you need to “promote my website.” If you can weave these together in a balanced way, you will have good site promotion and you will begin attracting high quality traffic to your site. When you say to me, “I need to promote my website” this is the best outline I can offer.

No one can deny that you need traffic to your website in order to succeed online. And free traffic beats everything else. Where does free traffic come from? Google and other search engines.
How do we get free traffic from Google?
You’ve experienced this process a lot of times. You go to Google. Enter in a word or phrase you want to research. And click one of the links that shows up. Well, the link you clicked on just send free traffic to that website owner. We will be discussing here how to get website traffic to you for free.
Most people only click results from the first couple pages. In fact, the first page of results receives almost all the free traffic. What’s even more amazing is the the first 3 links get more than 70% of the free traffic.
So to get any significant amount of free traffic from Google, you really need to be on the first page. And this means Google needs to “rank” you as a top 10 result. Which brings up..
What is SEO?
SEO means that your website is clearly about something specific, Google knows that that is and thinks others will agree and find your site useful. The formula Google uses to determine this is known only by Google. But there are several things that we know for sure.
Getting indexed
First, before you can get ranked highly, Google has to know you exist. This is known as being “indexed.” When your website gets indexed, Google stores information about it in their massive database.
To get indexed, you have to help Google find your site. Links from other sites are the easiest way to accomplish this. Google will actually follow the links on sites it already has indexed to find new sites and index them.
A couple of great places to do this are in your Twitter or Facebook profiles. Google visits these sites many times every day. And follows new links it finds immediately.
Gaining ranking
Once you have been indexed, you will start working on increasing your rank. Just getting indexed does you almost no good, considering that Google has billions of pages in their database.
There are three components of gaining ranking:
- Content
- Links
- Activity
Great content
This is also called on-page SEO. And it means that the content on your page matches the keywords you’re targeting. The topic of this article is clearly SEO. One reason Google knows this is because the words search engine optimization appear inside it. And another way this is determined is by the other related phrases like traffic generation that are also in the article.
In addition to the content on the page, other things to keep in mind are the title tags on the page, and the domain name itself. These all play a part in helping Google determine what your website is about.
Your links
The second factor is your linking. The links coming in and the links going out are included in this. You want to make sure you have more inbound links than outbound links. So the number of inbound links is important.
A very easy way to get a lot of links to your site is through article marketing. With this strategy what you do is write an article about the topic you’re targeting. Then create a bunch of different versions of it. And post unique versions to lots of websites that accept articles. And the more you do the better.
Make your site active
And lastly, it’s seems clear that Google expects important pages to be actively updated. Static pages that just sit may rank at first, but will fall off over time. So you need to update your pages often. One way to keep adding new content it through RSS feeds.
But the best way is with active discussions on your page itself. So, obviously, you need to get people to visit your site on your own, too. Online forums are simple source of real live visitors.
What you need to do is sign up with several forums in your niche. And post their often. And link back to yourself in your signature file. This will get your more inbound links. And it gets people to visit the site you link to.
Conclusion
Each step listed above is critical. However, writing a bunch of different articles on the same topic. Creating profiles on a ton of forums. And visiting all the sites to post up your comments and articles takes a really long time. And the bad news is that you probably won’t do it.
The good news is that there are automated software programs out there that will do this for you. So my best advice is to automate as much of this as you can. And then you’re sure to get it done. And not doing it means you will never get free traffic from Google.

A Word About Video And Audio Blogs
No comments · Posted by Alfred Lancer in Search Engine Optimization
Blogs are revolutionizing the way businesses interact with their customers. To elevate blogs to the next level, you may want to embed video in your business blog. Audio Video is becoming increasingly in demand online. If you heard of YouTube, you know the impact of video online. Why not take advantage of this revolution? You can make your blog more entertaining when you include video. You may provide short clips about using your products, or you could make short presentations about your services.
Don’t confuse video blogs with online commercials, because the two are not at all the same. Video blogs are not supposed to be shameless plugs or infomercials. When you offer video in your blog you are providing valuable information in a different form. Instead of entertainment, think value. That, of course, doesn’t mean that your video should be boring. On the contrary, the more exciting you make it the more buzz it will generate. Webinars are quite common tools that would benefit your blog.
We won’t go into the details of how to get your videos on your blog, but it is easier than you think. Don’t worry if you don’t have video equipment worth millions of dollars. Most digital video recorders are more sophisticated to day than much of the video equipment professionals have used in the past.
One of the most important aspect of video to remember is that it is using much more bandwidth than text. Be sure you check with your hosting company to make sure there is enough bandwidth for you to embed video in your blog. As video is becoming ever more popular, video hosting providers have made it very easy for the end user to add video content to their blogs.
Most popular video sharing sites such as YouTube, Google Video, etc will auto-generate code that you can cut and paste into your blog post. The most widely implemented blog backend providers such as TypePad and WordPress, have both a WYSIWYG and an HTML tab for writing and editing posts. This functionality is very similar to what many people are used to seeing in popular web-page building programs like Adobe’s Dreamweaver. Most blogging software allows you to paste the video embeded code into the HTML tab of your post.

Ways You Can Generate Financial Sales Leads
No comments · Posted by Miguel Pancardo in Search Engine Optimization
When looking for financial sales leads, you have to find people interested in your service or product if you hope to generate as much money as possible. The best way to go about this is to have those clients come to you. They have to search you out. But how do they find you? To find financial sales leads, you can’t expect customers interested in your services to just come knocking on your door. You have to provide a way for them to locate you, and then you have to entice them to buy from you. This is where SEO, pay per click and Internet marketing come into play.
Cold Calling is Unproductive
Before the internet reached the popularity it sees today, people used to cold call to find clients. Whether they were selling POS machines, insurance or even funeral plots, salesmen would call numbers they got from lead generators and would bank on the chance that one or more of them would want to buy the services the salesman is selling. This is a horrible way to do business. First of all, these days nobody likes to be solicited on the phone. That’s why there are so many people on the national DO NOT CALL list. Second, people don’t like to feel pressured and calling someone on the phone, pushing your product is the wrong way to go about generating good financial sales leads. Cold calling is not the way you want to go about getting your leads. Instead you have to make them contact you.
SEO and Pay Per Click
Nowadays, internet marketing is the ideal way to generate all types of sales leads, not just financial sales leads. This involves creating an e-commerce website, where clients can buy directly from your site. Then, you can use SEO, or search engine optimization, to ensure that your site reaches the front page of all the popular search engines, such as Google. Pay per click can also generate income as you’re paid whenever someone clicks your advertisement. These are not only great ways to make money, but it lets people who are interested in your product or services come to you.
When your site is live, you’ll want to use SEO techniques to increase your chances of people finding you. Place your pay per click ads on various other websites, use article marketing to drive traffic to your site, and advertise on every blog or site that relates to your type of business.
If you want to succeed in business and generate as many financial sales leads as you can, stop making cold calls and use SEO, PPC and other Internet marketing strategies instead. Your leads will find you instead of the other way around, and your business will take off. You’ll be making more money than you thought possible.
